The England cricket team has made tremendous progress in the world of cricket in the last decade. In the year 2019, the team also won the title of ODI World Cup and T20 World Cup in the year 2022. After this, as soon as Ben Stokes became the captain, the team has taken its graph very high in Test cricket as well. In the last one year, the team has played 12 Test matches, out of which it has won 10. The team is now ready for the one-off Test and the Ashes against Ireland. Before that, former England fast bowler Steve Harmison has made a big disclosure, due to which some former England veterans can come under siege.
Harmison indicated that some of the senior players in the team did not contribute to the team spirit of the late 90s and early 2000s. He also said that, but everything had changed during the 2005 Ashes which saw the team win 2-1. Significantly, former Australian fast bowler Jason Gillespie had said in a radio program that he had seen a big change in the England team in the 2005 Ashes, in response to which Harmison, who was a member of that team, said that that team and 2003, The difference between 2001, 1999 and 1997 was that in 2005 we were a team.

Harmison names selfish players
The 44-year-old Harmison, who took 226 wickets in 63 Tests for England, said some “selfish” players contributed to England’s poor culture. In 2005, we moved forward as a team, we played as a team and we behaved as a team off the field. Some selfish people played for England in 1997, 2001, 2003/04. Some great cricketers, don’t get me wrong but when you see – and I have no problem saying this – Nasser (Nasser Hussain), Athers (Michael Atherton), Thorpe (Graham Thorpe), Corky (Dominic Cork), Darren Gough Andy Caddick, he had a personal group, whereas in 2005 we were a team.

Harmison further said that even though there were differences among Australian cricketers, they were put aside for the good of the team and everyone played together. Looking at the Australian team, we could have become a team as well. You may have some differences, but we have never been able to take advantage of that. The names of Hussain and Atherton come in the big cricketers of England, together they played 211 Tests. Nasser also led England for many years. After these two, Michael Vaughan took command in 2003 and in 2005 the team won the Ashes. From here the face of England cricket started changing.
