Amit Shah West Bengal Visit: Union Home Minister Amit Shah is on a tour of West Bengal. Amit Shah said, “India shares deep ties with Bangladesh. Our culture, religion, customs and lifestyle have been intertwined for thousands of years. No one can ever break our ties with Bangladesh. Shah was on a visit to Petrapole in North 24 Parganas district to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for several projects of the Land Ports Authority of India and the Border Security Force (BSF). It is situated on the Indo-Bangladesh border.

Appreciating the role of the Land Ports Authority of India in strengthening relations with neighbours, Amit Shah said that trade through the authority from Rs 18,000 crore in the financial year 2016-17 has now crossed Rs 30,000 crore.

TMC spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said, “Amit Shah should have first visited Manipur, which is burning in the fire of caste violence. Reacting to TMC leader Ghosh’s remarks, BJP national vice-president Dilip Ghosh said, “TMC should not decide what Amit Shah ji should do or not and as far as cattle smuggling scam is concerned, TMC Senior leaders of the RSS have been questioned and arrested for their involvement. Let us inform that the CBI had arrested TMC’s Birbhum district president Anubrata Mandal in August last year in a case of cattle smuggling.
