Japanese two wheeler manufacturing company Yamaha will launch ‘Yamaha YZF-R3’ and ‘Yamaha MT-03’ sports bikes in India on December 15. The company has given information about this on its official website and social media accounts.
The company first showcased both these upcoming bikes at Madras International Circuit and then two months ago it also showcased it at Buddha International Circuit (BRC) in Greater Noida.
This picture is from the MotoGP Bharat racing event, where Yamaha R3 and MT-03 were showcased. These have been designed on the same platform.
Design of R3 and MT-03
Yamaha R3 is a fully faired motorcycle, whose design is like the company’s super sports bikes R7 and R1. On the other hand, MT-03 is its naked model, which offers a more upright riding position.
Engine Specifications of R3 and MT-03
Yamaha has provided a 321cc parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine in the R3 and MT-03, which generates 42 hp power and 29.5 Nm peak torque.
The engine is tuned with a 6-speed gearbox and will also feature a slipper clutch. Both motorcycles will get a 14-litre fuel tank.
Yamaha R3 is a sports bike.
Suspension and braking of the R3 and MT-03
Both models get all-LED lighting, LCD instrument cluster and some cosmetic changes. For comfort riding, the motorcycles come with USD front forks and a mono-shock suspension unit at the rear. For braking, the bikes have disc brakes on both wheels with dual channel ABS.
Yamaha R3 is a naked bike.
Expected price of R3 and MT-03
The R3 is slightly heavier than its naked version MT-03. Its weight is 169 kg. Both the bikes can be launched at an ex-showroom starting price of Rs 3 lakh.
When launched, the R3 will compete with the Kawasaki Ninja 300 and KTM RC 390 in the Indian market. On the other hand, the MT-03 will compete against the KTM Duke 390 and the recently launched Apache RTR 310.
