41 people of the country are trapped in a tunnel in Uttarkashi for 9 days. Efforts are being made to take them out. The sun rises every day with the hope that those workers might come out today, but with the sunset another day ends in the darkness of hopelessness. There is only one question in the mind of the whole of India that when will this tunnel open?
9 days ago, on November 12, 2023, the day when the entire country was celebrating Diwali, 41 lives got trapped inside the Silkyara Tunnel of Uttarkashi. The tunnel was blocked due to falling of mountain debris at around quarter to nine in the morning. The workers trapped in the tunnel are being sent food and water in bottles through pipes. The video of these laborers has surfaced for the first time on Tuesday (November 21, 2023).
The entire system is working hard to rescue the workers trapped in the tunnel. Tunnel experts have been called from abroad. Heavy machines are being brought from Indore to America to break the tunnel. Not one or two… 5 options are being worked on but no such news is coming which will bring a sigh of relief to the heart. This accident happened in Uttarkashi on the day of Diwali and after 9 days, the country has a question as to what is happening. Why are 41 workers not coming out? If the central and state governments are trying together, then where are the obstacles coming? So let us tell you one by one about the plan of the rescue operation and the obstacles coming in the way –
first plan
Six different plans are being worked on to rescue the workers trapped in the tunnel, but understand the latest plan. An attempt is being made to go inside the tunnel by drilling in the top of the mountain above the tunnel. However, this is not so easy. Heavy machines have to reach the peak and for this the Border Road Organization i.e. BRO has been called. The BRO team is making a path to the top of the mountain so that the parts of the machines can be taken there. That is, first the road will be built by leveling the mountain, then the parts of the machine will reach and then the tunnel will be pierced.
second plan
The workers are filling their stomachs by eating things like dry fruits and multivitamins, but now efforts are being made to lay a thick pipe to the tunnel to deliver food to them. Actually, to reach the workers, drilling will be done from the top of the mountain above the tunnel, but first a small pipe will be inserted so that bread, rice, water and cameras can be sent to the tunnel. If the small pipe goes from the top of the tunnel, then an attempt will be made to lay a bigger pipe from there so that the workers can reach. The difficulty in this is that to drill a hole from the top of the mountain, one will have to drill a hole up to 103 meters, which will be a risky task.
third plan
The third plan to reach the workers is to reach through the main route of the tunnel, which is being done from the first day. This part of the tunnel opens towards Silkiara in Uttarkashi. According to the information, a 24 meter hole had been made in the debris spread over about 60 meters inside the tunnel, but the work had to be stopped suddenly on Friday. It is certain that there is difficulty in removing the debris from the road ahead and that is why now a plan has been made to make a bigger hole from the top of the mountain. The biggest challenge is to keep the workers healthy inside the tunnel. Continuous efforts were being made to insert a 6-inch pipe inside the tunnel, but a huge stone was blocking the way. Ever since the workers are stranded. For the first time in these 9 days, good news came when it was revealed that success has been achieved in delivering the 6 inch pipe to the workers.
fourth plan
The fourth plan is to enter from the other mouth of the tunnel. The second mouth of the tunnel opens from Badkot side. There is debris on the path on both sides of the tunnel and workers are present in this radius of 2 km between the debris. This part of the tunnel was completed. There is water and electricity in this tunnel, but sunlight is not reaching. Family members of 41 laborers are present outside the tunnel. Waiting for the door of the tunnel to open and good news to be received.
fifth plan
As a fifth plan, the rescue team will also try to drill from the right and left sides of the tunnel. At present no one knows when and from where success will come, hence efforts are being made from every direction, but the biggest challenge is that in this effort the workers present inside the tunnel should not get hurt in any way.
Workers eating dry fruits, laiya and water in the tunnel
Dry fruits, laiya, gram puffed rice and water are being supplied to the workers through a small pipe. People are praying for the safety of the workers. Satish Somwal, priest of Gangotri Dham, took Ganga water from Gomukh and reached the door of Silkyara Tunnel of Uttarkashi. The local people are linking the tunnel accident with the displeasure of God. People are believing that Baba Boukhnag’s displeasure is the reason behind this accident.
People say that there was a temple of Baba Boukhnag near the tunnel which was demolished by the company whereas earlier officers and laborers used to enter the tunnel only after worshiping Baba in the temple. A picture has also surfaced, in which it is seen that a temporary temple has been built right next to the entrance of the tunnel. International expert Arnold Dix, who reached the Silkyara Tunnel of Uttarkashi to save 41 lives, also first bowed his head in the temple built near the tunnel.
