Rajasthan Election 2023 News: Caste factor is very important in the politics of Rajasthan. Jats have the most influence in this. It is believed that it becomes easier for the party towards which the Jat voter goes to power. Talking about Congress, it has fielded Jat candidates on 36 seats out of 200, while Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has given tickets to Jat candidates on 31 seats. This is how Congress is raising the Jat issue
To woo Jat voters, Congress has included the demand of Jat Mahasabha for caste census in its manifesto. Congress is organizing public meetings here with former Haryana CM Bhupendra Hooda and many other Jat leaders. Congress, paying attention to the demand of Jat Mahasabha for 40 Jat tickets, gave tickets to 36 candidates. From Rahul Gandhi to Mallikarjun Kharge, all the big leaders of Congress are talking about conducting caste census in their rallies.
Command in the hands of Modi from BJP
Amidst the Jat based campaign of Congress, BJP is also making all efforts to woo the voters of this category. Prime Minister Narendra Modi himself has taken command of it. In a public meeting held in Jatland, PM Modi reminded the Jat community about reservation and also attacked Congress.
Other parties also entered
In Jatland, between Congress and BJP, Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD), Hanuman Beniwal’s Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP) and Dushyant Chautala’s Jannayak Janata Party (JJP) have also jumped in and are trying to woo Jat voters. RLD chief Jayant Chaudhary has held several public meetings for the party’s candidate from Bharatpur. Although RLD has an alliance with Congress.
Why so much focus on Jat vote bank?
In fact, the maximum number of votes in Rajasthan is from Jats (about 14 percent). Nagaur here. There are many seats around Bharatpur, Jaisalmer, Barmer, Jodhpur and Jaipur where Jat voters have the power to overturn the results. Overall, Jat vote bank dominates about 65 seats. This is the reason why every party focuses on Jat votes.
