In an exclusive interview with NDTV, Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong said, “India and Australia value democratic traditions. Both countries want to live in democratic institutions and share their interests… it is peaceful, stable and prosperous. “This is an area where there is sovereignty. This sovereignty is respected in both countries. And so we are working together to ensure that.”
What did Wong say on relations with China?
At the same time, on relations between Australia and China, Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong said, “China is a country with which we will continue to partner. We will cooperate where possible, we will disagree where we must. We will continue our national Will take care of your interests.” Penny Wong said- “We discussed our work in the Indian Ocean region and how we can cooperate. The Indian Ocean Conference will be held in Perth.”
International system is being followed
He said, “Quad is a group of countries who care about what is happening in our region. They also want to give value to the countries in the region.” “They are countries that have a common vision of the international system, the international rule of law, transparency and trading arrangements,” Wong says. “It’s good that we work together and that’s a very important It’s a partnership.”
Penny Wong said, “Australia is a middle power. We rely very much on the international system. So when we look at the South China Sea or the training regime, we see that countries like India and Australia insist on those rules. “What is important is what has been agreed upon. It has been agreed upon and will be monitored.” Asked about China’s role in the region, Wong said Australia focuses on the importance of adhering to international law.
Know about Quad
Quad i.e. Quadrilateral Security Dialogue is an alliance of 4 countries America, Japan, Australia and India. Although it was formed in 2007, it was revived in 2017. The purpose of formation of Quad is to protect the Indo-Pacific region and its countries from Chinese interference.
Next meeting will be held in January
