Karnataka’s ruling Congress leader Amargowda Patil has said that a single man cannot rape a woman, it takes 3-4 men. He also termed the rape victim’s complaint as false.
Amargouda Patil is a senior Congress leader in Karnataka and also a former MLA. He allegedly said these shameful things to a rape victim and her father-in-law over phone. With this audio coming out, he is now being heavily criticized. It has been told that the accused in this rape case is Sanganagouda who is close to Amaragouda.
The rape victim and her father-in-law had tried to seek help from Amargouda Patil for swift action in the case. Patil said on the phone, “You will be insulted in vain. It takes at least 2-3 men to commit rape. No matter how powerful one is in this world, one cannot commit rape alone. If there is anyone like that then show me.”
On this the victim’s father-in-law asks on the phone, “Are we lying?” On which Patil says that the victim’s father-in-law is lying. If he is not lying then prove that a man can commit rape.
Patil did not stop here but he also called the victim a liar. He told the victim’s father-in-law that he was ruining the family’s name by talking about the rape incident. Patil said that no one would marry his daughter in a village where girls are raped. Now he is being criticized for how he can make these insensitive statements towards women. However, this audio has not been confirmed yet. Even from the Congress side, no official stand has been taken on this statement of their leader.
