Dr. SS Badrinath, founder of Shankar Nethralaya, passed away today i.e. on Tuesday. He was 83 years old. Dr. Badrinath was a non-official member of the Indian Army Forces, who also served as an Ophthalmologist in the Army Forces.
Dr. Badrinath was awarded the Padma Shri in 1983 and the Padma Vibhushan in 1999 for providing charitable eye care for decades. At the same time, Annamalai and Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University honored him with an honorary doctorate degree in 1995.
