There will be more business of about Rs 1 lakh crore during the wedding season than last time.

The wedding season is starting in India from 23rd November i.e. the day after tomorrow. Last year, during the wedding season, about 32 lakh marriages took place, due to which business worth Rs 3.75 lakh crore was done across the country. Praveen Khandelwal, National General Secretary of Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) said that this year we estimate that there will be more business of about Rs 1 lakh crore during the wedding season than last time. We have collected data by conducting a survey from business organizations in 30 cities across the country.

There will be around 38 lakh wedding programs in this wedding season. During this period, business worth around Rs 4.74 lakh crore is estimated. Most of the business is expected to come from purchase of items related to jewellery, food items, catering, banquet hall, electronic goods and other gift items.
Earlier, this was the first Diwali after the Corona crisis, when a record business of Rs 3.75 lakh crore was done. Many marriages were postponed due to Corona. The government had also imposed restrictions on people gathering together. In such a situation, businessmen had to suffer huge losses. But this year the saree season is expected to be good for businessmen.
