Till now, the process of appointment of permanent teachers was going on only in those colleges where permanent principals are working. However, now permanent teachers will also be appointed in those colleges where temporary principals are working.
The process of permanent appointment is starting in 5 such colleges of Delhi Government which are given grants by the government.
According to the Forum of Academics for Social Justice, the way has been cleared for permanent appointment of teachers even where acting or temporary principals are working.
Teachers of Delhi University say that the colleges where this recruitment process is starting from next week are Sri Aurobindo College, Kalindi College, Motilal Nehru College, Vivekananda College and Gargi College.
Teachers’ organizations of Delhi University have welcomed the process of permanent appointment in these colleges also. Forum President and Professor of Sri Aurobindo College, Hansraj Suman, says that once this process is completed, adhocism will end from Delhi University.
Dr. Suman said that the colleges which have acting or officiating principals have completed the screening and scrutiny by issuing advertisements to fill permanent posts of teachers six months and one year in advance. The screening process has been completed in many colleges, while in some colleges this work is going on in full swing.
He says that when teachers can be promoted in these colleges then why not permanent appointment. That is why the university administration has sent a panel for selection in these 5 colleges.
The principals of Delhi government funded colleges had sought a list of names of subject experts for the interview after screening and scrutinizing the applications for permanent appointment. The university administration has given the list of subject experts to the principals of those colleges. Now these colleges can start the recruitment process soon.
Suman told that in Vivekananda College, a teacher has already retired after completing her scheduled services as an adhoc teacher. Presently the situation is that there are a large number of adhoc teachers aged between 45 to 50. Maitreyi College, Shyamlal College, Shivaji College, Aurobindo College, Ramlal Anand College, Swami Shraddhanand College have teachers above 50 years of age. All these teachers are adhoc. Adhoc teachers have welcomed the sending of panels to these colleges and have expressed gratitude to DUTA President Professor Ajay Bhagi.
