Manipur Violence News: Protestors demonstrated violently over the unconditional release of five youths arrested in Manipur. During this, the protesters tried to attack many police stations. Due to this, the security forces released tear gas shells on Thursday, in which more than 10 people were injured. Officials said that as a precautionary measure, the state government canceled the relaxation in curfew in two districts of Imphal from 5:00 pm onwards.
The official said that six local clubs and Mira Pabis had called for a demonstration demanding the release of the five villagers. Following this call, hundreds of protesters, holding placards and shouting slogans, tried to enter Porompat police station in Imphal East. Not only this, the protesters also tried to enter Singjamei police station and Kwakithel police station in Imphal West district.

He said, ‘Similar attempts by protesters to enter the Mayang police station of Imphal West district and Andro police station of Imphal East district were also reported. Police and RAF personnel fired several tear gas shells to disperse the crowd.

Curfew relaxation withdrawn
The state government canceled the relaxation in curfew in two districts of Imphal in view of the violence in the evening. According to an official order of the District Magistrate, Imphal West, curfew was relaxed from 5 am to 9 pm on September 21, which was withdrawn from 5 pm onwards. Officials said similar orders have also been implemented in Imphal East district.

Manipur Police said, ‘Search operations have been conducted by security forces in various districts and arms and ammunition including mortar shells have been recovered. A total of 127 check posts were set up in the hill districts of the state and 873 people were detained on Wednesday for violating rules.
