Hardeep Singh Nijjar. A Khalistani terrorist. On June 18, 2023, he was shot near a Sikh community center in Canada. In the nineties he had entered Canada on a fake passport. Today Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is creating a ruckus in his name itself. They are trying to blame India for his murder.

Nijjar was the founder of the banned Khalistan Tiger Force. He was also a member of another Khalistani organization Sikhs for Justice. This organization is led by Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannu. Nijjar was a resident of Bharatsingh Pura village of Ludhiana. His age at the time of death was 46 years. He also had links with Khalistani terrorist organization Babbar Khalsa.

Nijjar had gone to Canada from India in 1996 with the help of a fake passport. This passport was made with a Hindu name ‘Ravi Sharma’. After reaching Canada he applied for political asylum. But it was rejected. After failing to obtain political asylum he married a Canadian woman. Then tried to get citizenship. It was this woman who helped in bringing Nijjar to Canada. But his move also failed and he did not get citizenship.

It is worth noting that Justin Trudeau called him a Canadian citizen in his speech, which indicates that he may have acquired citizenship later. He also started a plumbing business in the Canadian state of British Columbia, but his wealth indicates that he was involved in other businesses as well.

Nijjar was continuously fueling anti-India activities in Canada and also had a big role in getting the so-called Sikh referendum done. Efforts to extradite Nijjar to India were going on for a long time. During Justin Trudeau’s visit to India in 2018, the then Chief Minister of Punjab Captain Amarinder Singh had given him a list of criminals who were wanted by the Punjab Police. Nijjar’s name was also there in it.

Nijjar was also accused of carrying out bomb blasts in Ludhiana in 2007. Six people died in this bomb blast, while about 50 people were injured. This was a major attack in Punjab. According to a report in India Today, his name had come up as a conspirator in a bomb blast in Patiala. Apart from the bomb blasts, he is also accused of conspiring and organizing the murder of Dera Sachcha Sauda, Nirankari Sikh saints and Hindu leaders of Punjab.

Sikh youth Mandeep Dhaliwal was arrested in this connection. He was given the responsibility of killing Hindu leaders in Punjab. Dhaliwal was trained by Nijjar himself. Nijjar had also conspired to murder Baba Singh Bhainara, a Dalit guru of Punjab. In the year 2020, he had also got the jailed Manohar Lal, a follower of Ram Rahim’s Dera Sacha Sauda, murdered.

Manohar Lal was one of the prominent figures of Dera Sacha Sauda. He was also a member of the twenty-five member committee of the Dera. According to the English newspaper The Tribune, Manohar Lal was the father of an accused of sacrilege. A report by Indian Express states that between 2016 and 2022, 7 followers of Dera were murdered and these fundamentalists had a role in all this.

A Red Corner Notice was also issued in 2016 to bring Nijjar back to India and a continuous appeal was made to the Canadian government to hand him over to India. But pressure from Canadian Sikh leader Jagmeet Singh and Trudeau’s appeasement politics did not allow this to happen. In the year 2022, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) had also announced a reward of Rs 10 lakh on Nijjar.

The Canadian police are continuously empty handed regarding the murder of Nijjar and Trudeau in frustration is blaming all the blame on India. India has strongly opposed this. India has also ordered a Canadian diplomat to leave India.
