This year, 24-hour free service will be provided on the day of immersion at the public parking lot near the immersion site. A meeting in this regard was held in the hall of ‘F South’ section of BMC. Representatives of various authorities like Mumbai Police, Railways, BEST, Railway Protection Force were present on the occasion. In the meeting, discussions were held regarding drinking water, sanitation, parking, bus, railway service and toilet facilities. On this occasion, various 52 issues raised by the Brihanmumbai Ganeshotsav Coordination Committee in the last meeting were also discussed. After this meeting, Guardian Minister Deepak Kesarkar said that free service will be provided at the parking lot.
He directed that maximum facilities should be provided to the devotees during the Ganeshotsav period and various systems should take full care to ensure that no inconvenience is caused to the Ganeshotsav congregations and citizens at the place of immersion.
Water bottles will be provided to devotees at major immersion sites. The Solid Waste Management Department is equipped to handle the disposal arrangements of the devotees and Ganeshotsav mandals. In the meeting, municipal officials said that toilet facilities will be provided free of cost in the immersion area.
Kesarkar suggested that BEST and Railways should provide all night services to avoid inconvenience to citizens traveling in Mumbai during Ganeshotsav. He also directed the police and Mumbai Corporation to create public awareness by putting up boards about the facilities provided in the area of the immersion site, using signage and directional boards and markings on the immersion procession route.
