Ravichandran Ashwin has returned to the Indian team after almost two years. But star wicketkeeper batsman Sanju Samson has once again been ignored for the series against Australia. For the series against Australia, the selectors have rested Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Hardik Pandya for the first two matches. Rituraj Gaikwad, Tilak Verma, Suryakumar Yadav and Ravichandran Ashwin have been selected in their place. But Sanju Samson has not got a place. Samson did not even get a chance in the Asia Cup and he is also not a part of the Indian team for the Asian Games 2023.

Sanju Samson made his debut for Team India in July 2021. He had debuted in T20 only 8 years ago. He has scored 390 runs in 13 ODI matches for India at an average of 55 and strike rate of 104. Still he has not got a chance in Team India. Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul have got a chance in the Indian team as wicketkeepers in the series against Australia.
