New Delhi. Voting for the student union elections started in Delhi University on Friday morning. Students of various colleges and departments vote in Delhi University Students Union i.e. DUSU elections. This time a total of 24 candidates are in the fray for four posts.
Voting will take place in the morning colleges of Delhi University from 8.30 am on Friday and in the evening colleges from 3 pm to 7.30 pm.
The university administration says that the results of the voting taking place on Friday will come the next day on Saturday.
According to the election officer, this time in the Delhi University Students Union elections, eight candidates are contesting for the post of President, five for the post of Vice President, 6 for the post of Secretary and five for the post of Joint Secretary.
After the voting for the student union elections started on Friday, Tushar Dedha, the candidate for the post of president of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, has said that the trends of the first 1 hour are good for the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad.
He said that I appeal to all the students for peaceful voting.
It is noteworthy that this time student union elections are being held in Delhi University after three years. Earlier, DUSU elections were held in the year 2019-20. After that, student union elections could not be held due to coronavirus.
Due to the delay of three years in the student union elections, the administration has given relaxation in the age limit to the candidates. Under this relief, the maximum age limit for undergraduate and post graduate candidates has been reduced to 25 years and 28 years respectively.
It is noteworthy that this time in DUSU elections from ABVP, Tushar Dedha is contesting for the post of President, Sushant Dhankar for the post of Vice President, Aparajita for the post of Secretary and Sachin Bainsla for the post of Joint Secretary.
ABVP candidates campaigned by prominently raising the issue of students.
On behalf of Congress supported NSUI, Hitesh Gulia will contest for the post of President, Abhi Dahiya for Vice President, Yakshna Sharma for Secretary and Shubham Chaudhary for Joint Secretary.
NSUI says that they have put forward the issues related to student problems during these elections.(IANS)
