According to PLOS One research, excessive consumption of fructose greatly increases the risk of metabolic dysregulation. High fructose corn syrup is added to cornflakes.
Cornflakes Cause of Diabetes: People consume cornflakes to satisfy hunger instantly. Working people often eat cornflakes for breakfast. But corn flakes become ultra processed and this causes many types of harm. It is generally claimed that cornflakes are made from maize and many types of nutrients are added to it. To make cornflakes tasty, strawberries, mixed fruits, almonds and organic honey are added to it. If only these things are added then it will not cause much harm, but the added sugar and added salt that is added to it causes great harm to health. This increases blood sugar and is also not good for the heart.
Why is cornflakes so harmful?
The things that are added to cornflakes to make it tasty are different. Apart from this, high fructose corn syrup is added to it. According to PLOS One research, excessive consumption of fructose greatly increases the risk of metabolic dysregulation. This means that the body’s metabolism gets disturbed due to this. Therefore, if you consume cornflakes in excess then it is important to know its side effects.
Along with blood sugar, there is also risk of heart disease.
According to Dr. Frank Hu of the prestigious Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health, added sugar i.e. high fructose corn syrup greatly increases the amount of glucose in the blood, but this sugar is not digested quickly and remains floating in the blood. Due to this the blood sugar increases a lot. Since the high glycemic index of cornflakes is more than 82, it is not a good option for diabetic patients in any case.
Risk of obesity, heart disease and cancer
Healthshot’s news quoted nutritionist Kavita Devgan as saying that the structure of nutrients in cornflakes gets spoiled and the fiber in it gets reduced a lot. Therefore it further increases hunger. The American Heart Foundation recommends not eating more than 9 grams of added sugar a day. If you eat more than this, there is a risk of high blood pressure, inflammation, diabetes, fatty liver disease, cancer and obesity. Due to all these reasons, the risk of heart attack and stroke always looms. Therefore, if you consume more added sugar than this amount, you will have to consume more fiber rich grains and fruits.
