The BMC has approved 2,729 applications received from public boards for setting up pandals till September 18, making the total approval number higher than the pre- and post-period. According to the news of Free Press Journal, BMC had started an online application on August 1 to set up Ganpati pandals on the streets of the city. A one-window system has been implemented, allowing Ganeshotsav people to apply for pandal permission without contacting the mandal police, traffic police and fire brigade separately. The civic body received 3,767 applications from public boards. Of these, 665 were copied and 373 were rejected for various reasons.
According to data received from BMC, 2,417 applications were approved in 2022. The number was around 2,000 during the Covid period in 2021-2020. Whereas in 2019 it was 2,615.
