Before the ODI World Cup, Bangladesh was the only team which was not announced. But now the wait of the fans is over and the Bangladesh team has also been announced. However, the name of their star batsman and former captain Tamim Iqbal is not in this team.
Changes in Bangladesh team
Tamim Iqbal, who stepped down from the captaincy of the ODI team, has been ruled out of Asia Cup 2023 due to a back injury. The 34-year-old was fit but failed to find a place in the team. For the World Cup also, Bangladesh team has given place to the same players who were given place in the Asia Cup.
This bowler also remained out
Fast bowler Ebadat Hussain is also not in the squad as he has failed to recover from his knee injury. Hussain suffered a knee injury in the ODI series against Afghanistan in July and underwent surgery last month. However, he could not fit in the given time frame to be available for the World Cup.
Many veteran players included in the team
Apart from captain Shakib, the presence of other experienced batsmen like Liton Das, Mushfiqur Rahim and Mahmudullah in the middle order is in good shape for the Bangladesh team. Young opening batsman Nazmul Hussain Shanto getting the responsibility of vice-captain shows how much confidence the team management has in him.
Many spinners included in the team
Like every other World Cup, the Bangladesh team will have a spin attack heavy with Shakib, Mehdi Hasan Miraj, Nasum Ahmed and Mahedi Hasan. However, the bowling attack looks strong with four fast bowlers. Bangladesh will begin its World Cup campaign against Afghanistan on Saturday, October 7 in Dharamsala.
Bangladesh squad for World Cup 2023:
