The final match of the second edition of the World Test Championship (WTC) will be played between Team India and Australia at the Kennington Oval in London. Both the teams have started working hard ahead of this mega match starting from 7th June. After the end of IPL 2023, both the teams are sweating it out in the training session in London. Meanwhile, some figures of the Oval Ground have also started coming to the fore. You have come to know what is the record of both India and Australia on this ground, now do you know how is the record of Team India’s two pillars Virat Kohli and Captain Rohit Sharma on this ground?
Rohit Sharma has a special memory attached to this ground. There is also a memory for Virat Kohli but his personal record is very poor on this ground. The Indian team played its last match here in the year 2021 against England. In that match, Team India defeated the British here after a wait of 50 years, registering a resounding victory by 157 runs. Now it is the turn of the kangaroos to challenge. For the first time, the Indian team will face any team other than England here. Let us now know how are the figures of Virat and Rohit on this ground?
Rohit’s bat will spew fire!
Hitman i.e. Team India captain Rohit Sharma has golden memories on the ground of Oval. Although, he has played only one Test here, but due to his century innings in that Test, Team India registered a resounding victory. At this ground, Rohit scored a total of 138 runs in that match, which included his 127 runs in the second innings. This was the same Test match in which Team India registered a historic victory at the Oval under the captaincy of Virat Kohli. Earlier, the team won here for the only time in 1971 under the captaincy of Ajit Wadekar.
Virat behind Rohit in figures
Talking about Virat Kohli, he has played a total of three Test matches at The Oval. If we remember the last historic match of 2021, then in that Virat had scored a total of 94 runs by playing innings of 44 and 50 runs. But before that he did not bat in the two Test matches he played here in 2014 and 2018. On this ground, Virat has scored 169 runs in a total of 3 Test matches. His average is just 28.16. On the other hand, Rohit scored 138 runs in one match and his average is 69. That is, Virat is behind Rohit in terms of statistics of this field.

If these two pillars of Team India can overcome the kangaroo bowlers, then Team India can be of great benefit. Last time India had to face defeat to New Zealand in the final of the World Test Championship. Surely these two veterans will also have a wound of old defeat in their mind, which they would like to fill with victory here.
