Wrestlers Protest Today: After the initiative taken by the government, the players have called a meeting at 9 am. After mutual consent, we will decide when to meet the government. All the players are in Sonipat and can come to Delhi on Wednesday (June 7). In the case of wrestlers agitating against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh for more than a month, a new twist came when the Union Sports Minister invited talks on Tuesday (June 6).
The Union Minister tweeted and wrote, the government is willing to discuss with the wrestlers. I have once again called the wrestlers for talks. Earlier on June 3, a meeting was held between Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the wrestlers as part of an attempt by the government to open the deadlock.
Movement of wrestlers against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh
The famous wrestlers of the country have opened a front against the President of the Wrestling Federation of India and the BJP MP. There is an allegation of sexual exploitation of female wrestlers against Brij Bhushan. Two FIRs have also been registered in this matter at the Connaught Place police station in Delhi. In one of these FIRs, there is mention of sexual exploitation of a minor and in this case a section of POCSO Act has been imposed against Brij Bhushan.
Dharna was removed from Jantar Mantar
Wrestlers had started a sit-in at Jantar Mantar in Delhi on April 23, demanding action against Brij Bhushan, which was ended by the Delhi Police on May 28. On May 28, when the new Parliament House was being inaugurated, on the same day the wrestlers had announced to hold a Mahila Panchayat in front of the Parliament. The wrestlers started marching towards the Parliament House at around 11.30 am. The police tried to stop but the wrestlers did not agree, after which the police took Bajrang Punia, Sakshi Malik and Vinesh Phogat into custody. On the same day, the police had removed the wrestlers’ belongings from Jantar Mantar and said that now they will not be allowed to protest here.
