ODI World Cup 2023
Everyone is eagerly waiting for the complete schedule of ODI World Cup 2023 to be held in India this year. According to a recent statement from Jai Shah, the information about its release was received during the final of the World Test Championship. Now ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice has given a big update regarding this. According to his statement, the venue and dates are still not fully decided by the host board i.e. BCCI. Still, he has said to release it as soon as possible (ASAP).
Significantly, the schedule of the 2019 World Cup was released about 13 months ago in April 2018 and the schedule of the 2015 World Cup was released about 18 months ago. But this year’s tournament in India is to be held in October-November. Four months are left and the schedule is yet to be finalised. According to a recent report, according to the dates that came out, the tournament was to start from October 5 and the final match was to be played on November 19. When will the schedule come?
According to the report of ESPN Cricinfo, the schedule of World Cup 2023 might not be revealed to the public till next week. Regarding this, Allardice said that, I think the schedule should have been received from the host today (Wednesday 7 June). After that I will have to discuss it with all the participating teams and broadcasters. After that we will try to release it as soon as possible. When an event is organized, one has to work closely with the host. Many discussions are necessary. The responsibility of organizing a good event rests with the host. For this, all kinds of tests are also necessary.
Is the delay due to Pakistan?
A question was also arising whether the schedule is getting delayed because of Pakistan’s decision to come or not to come to India? Allardice did not give much detailed information on this. He clearly said that till we get the schedule, I will wait for everything. I hope we will get the schedule in a day or two. Our event team is very experienced. We can only control what is in our control. I think our team is also taking the same approach. The team is working on the information that they have. The moment we get the information, we will start further action on it.
