Stock Market Closing: Amid a weak opening in European markets, investors saw selling in shares of FMGC companies, IT companies on Friday, leading to a fall in the major stock market Indexex and Nifty for the second consecutive day, according to traders. The selling pressure in the shares of major companies like Reliance Industries also led to weakness in the market.

During this period, the BSE’s 30-share index Sensex fell 223.01 points, or 0.35 percent, to close at 62,625.63. Today, at one point in the day’s trade, it fell 253.9 points, or 0.40 percent, to 62,594.74. Similarly, the NSE index Nifty also fell 71.15 points, or 0.38 percent, to close at 18,563.40.
Among the stocks included in the group of Sensex, Tata Steel lost the most by two percent. Apart from this, SBI, Hindustan Unilever, HCL Technologies, Infosys, ITC, Asian Paints, Mahindra & Mahindra, Tech Mahindra, Tata Consultancy Services and Reliance Industries also closed with losses. On the other hand, IndusInd Bank, Axis Bank, Larsen & Toubro, Power Grid, UltraTech Cement and Tata Motors registered gains.
South Korea’s Cospi, Japan’s Nikkei, China’s Shanghai Composite and Hong Kong’s Hangseng closed with gains in other major Asian markets. European markets were trading with a fall in the afternoon session. An increase was registered in the American markets on Thursday.
Vinod Nair, head of research, Geojit Financial Services, said, “Selling pressure was seen in the domestic market as investors await the domestic inflation data to come on Monday.” Earlier, the RBI refrained from cutting the inflation forecast. Apart from this, global cues also failed to support, as there was news of high unemployment from the US. ‘Meanwhile, the global oil standard Brent crude climbed 0.38 per cent to $ 76.25 per barrel.
Earlier on Thursday, the BSE Sensex fell 294.32 points, or 0.47 percent, to close at 62,848.64, while the NSE Nifty was down 91.85 points, or 0.49 percent, at 18,634.55. According to stock market data, foreign institutional investors (FIIs) bought shares worth Rs 212.40 crore on a net basis on Thursday.
