Ravindra Jadeja and R Ashwin
WTC Final: Australia’s challenge is in front of the Indian team in the final of the World Test Championship. This match is to be played at The Oval ground in England from 7th June. Before this match, a big question is arising that who among Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja will get a chance in the playing 11. Australian veteran cricketer Ricky Ponting has now given his opinion on this question.
Ponting gave a big statement
Ricky Ponting has said that the Indian team management should include both Ravindra Jadeja and Ravichandran Ashwin in the team. Jadeja can mainly bat at No.6 in ICC WTC finals. The Indian spin duo were instrumental in India retaining the Border-Gavaskar Trophy after a 2-1 series win over Australia earlier this year.
Ashwin is kept out in England
The last time India toured England in 2021-22, Jadeja was preferred in all 5 Test matches. The all-rounder did not make much of an impact with the ball in that series, taking just 6 wickets at an average of 56.16. But Jadeja scored 287 runs which included a century.
Both got a chance in the team
Former Australia captain Ponting believes that Jadeja’s talent lies more with the bat than with the ball. Hence the inclusion of his partner Ashwin in the WTC final could be crucial. Ponting said that I really think they will pick Jadeja and Ashwin. Jadeja can continue at number 6 in batting. His batting has improved so much that he can be picked as a batsman who can do some bowling when required.
Ashwin did well with the ball
During India’s home series against Australia earlier this year, Ashwin showed his dominance with a total of 25 wickets. Although Jadeja and Ashwin were bowling on a spin pitch, it is a sight to see that Ashwin has shown his ability to excel in different conditions. He has taken 61 wickets in 13 Tests, the third highest in the current WTC cycle.
