The Fact India: Bollywood actor Naseeruddin Shah has compared the film award to the handle of his washroom. Taking a dig at the awards received in Bollywood, he said that these awards have no meaning for me now. They meet lobbying. Now even such people get awards who do not deserve them at all. He further said that I use the trophy received at the Filmfare Awards as the handle of the washroom. If anyone goes to the washroom of my house, he will find two Filmfare trophies hanging on the door as handles.
Please tell that actor Naseeruddin Shah has built a farmhouse in Mumbai. The handles on the doors there are all made from the trophies they get. Shah was questioned in this regard. Talking to a media house, he said that these awards no longer mean anything to me. Earlier, they used to feel happy when they won. After some time it was realized that these awards are the result of lobbying. Now even those people who do not deserve it have started getting awards. It was only after this that I started breaking ties with these awards.
Shah said that my father used to think that I would not be able to do anything in life. He thought me stupid. He did not want me to make a career in acting. When I got Padma Shri and Padma Bhushan, I remembered my father. When I was going to Rashtrapati Bhavan to receive these awards, those words of my father were coming to my mind again and again. Looking at the sky, I used to say to my father, do you see this moment. Well, they must be happy wherever they are. It was a pleasure for me to get the Padma Awards, but these film awards mean nothing to me.
Naseeruddin Shah says that I do not understand the concept of these awards. All the actors work hard, but only one actor gets the trophy for the best actor of the year. this is not right. I didn’t even go to receive the last two awards. So I built a farmhouse and decided to keep these awards in the washroom there.
