Mumbai Murder Case: Manoj Sane, arrested for allegedly killing his ‘live-in partner’ Saraswati Vaidya, made a claim that Vaidya had committed suicide by consuming poison. He only tried to dismember the dead body by dismembering it. The police gave this information on Friday (June 9).
An official said that the accused Sane was arrested on Thursday (June 8) from Mira Road (East) area on the outskirts of Mumbai. After which, he also told the investigators that he was HIV-infected and had never had physical relations with the 36-year-old Vaidya.
Sane reportedly told the police that Vaidya was foaming at the mouth and had died on the morning of June 3 after consuming poison. He said that fearing that he would be held responsible for her death, he decided to dispose of the body.
Vaidya’s body parts were found in a flat
The police officer said that he also claimed that after disposing of the body pieces, he had planned to commit suicide. The police have not yet confirmed these claims. He said that it is possible that the accused was trying to mislead the investigators.
Police on Wednesday (June 7) found Vaidya’s body parts, some of which were cooked in a pressure cooker and some were fried, inside a flat in Naya Nagar area of Mira Road in Thane district. According to the police, he and Sane were living in a rented flat.
the neighbors called the police
Sane has been sent to police custody till June 16 by a court. The details that emerged in the case brought back memories of last year’s Shraddha Walkar case. The officer said that the police have meanwhile recorded the statements of Vidya’s three sisters. He said that the motive behind the crime is not yet clear.
It is suspected that Vaidya died on June 4, but the death came to light on June 7 when the couple’s neighbors informed the police after they could not tolerate the foul smell emanating from the flat. Neighbors also told the police that Sane had been feeding stray dogs for the past few days, which he had never done before.
