Lok Sabha Election 2024: Opposition parties are trying to unite for the Lok Sabha elections. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has called a meeting in Patna on June 23 regarding the future strategy of the opposition parties. Several leaders including West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) chief Sharad Pawar will attend the meeting of opposition parties.
Meanwhile, on Thursday (June 8), NCP chief Sharad Pawar, RJD leader and Bihar’s deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav told the meeting the need of the hour, and BJP also retaliated on it. Union Minister Smriti Irani said that these people are looking for support in each other. These people have failed to stand on their feet. As the bridge was washed away in Bihar, their desires will also be washed away.
Who said what about the meeting?
Former CM Sharad Pawar said that CM Nitish Kumar called and invited. I’ll go to the meeting. Pawar said that there is a need to work together on the national issue. On the other hand, Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav claimed that this meeting will be historic and we will discuss about 2024. Apart from this, he demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should give special status to Bihar.
Congress organization general secretary KC Venugopal also said that the opposition parties are determined to protect democracy and will unitedly defeat the ‘divisive forces’. He tweeted, “Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge ji and Rahul Gandhi ji will participate in the joint meeting of opposition leaders to be held in Patna on June 23.” We believe that our solidarity and commitment towards the cause of protecting democracy is the need of the hour today. We will be successful in defeating the divisive forces in power.”
Who is coming to the meeting and who is not?
News agency PTI quoted Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav as saying that Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Trinamool Congress chief Mamata Banerjee, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin, Aam Aadmi Party chief and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal attended the meeting. Ready to be. Apart from this, Uddhav Thackeray faction leader Sanjay Raut told news agency ANI that former CM Uddhav Thackeray will also attend the meeting.
When Tejashwi Yadav was asked about Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) founder and Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR), he said that we have not talked to him yet. According to the news agency PTI, there is a possibility that KCR will be a part of such an alliance in which the Congress will be. Congress is the main opposition party in Telangana. Recently, the BRS has given ample indication that instead of being part of a united opposition, it will follow the ‘Telangana model’.
Why is the meeting being held on 23rd June?
The meeting of opposition parties was earlier to be held in Patna on June 12 but some parties including Congress and Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) requested a change in the date. Congress had told the reason behind this was the unavailability of former President Rahul Gandhi and President Kharge. According to news agency PTI, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav said that we wanted the leaders of the parties to attend the meeting and not the representatives so that a decision could be taken.
