Khalistani slogans were once again heard in Amritsar, Punjab, on the 39th anniversary of Operation Blue Star. Here in the Golden Temple, Khalistan supporters chanted Khalistani slogans while waving swords and posters of Bhindranwale. On the other hand, Jathedar of Shri Akal Takht Giani Harpreet Singh asked the Sikh community to unite under the leadership of Shri Akal Takht.
Now looking at the situation, the police and administration in Punjab are on alert. Adequate security arrangements have been made by the police around Harminder Sahib. Four companies of paramilitary forces and a large number of police forces are stationed here.
According to media reports, Giani Harpreet Singh while addressing the Sikh community said, “Our community and religious institutions are divided at this time. The need of the hour is to bring them together under the leadership of Shri Akal Takht.” He said that it is necessary for unity that Sikh organizations and Akali parties have to remove differences.
Giani Harpreet Singh announced to start the struggle against the government by uniting the scattered forces and said that justice cannot be expected from the governments. Sikhs will have to fight for justice on their own while becoming strong politically and economically.
During this, provoking the Sikhs, it was also said that the wounds inflicted by the government on the Sikhs can never be forgotten. These wounds are deep and will never heal. It is not good to expect from the governments. He said that it is not that our power is less but our power is scattered. After 1984 we bow down here and there and away we go. But now there is a need to sort out the differences.
Significantly, June 6 is the anniversary of Operation Blue Star. In 1984, the Indian Army ended this operation by killing Khalistani Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale and his supporters. This operation took place in the dark of night hence it was named Operation Blue Star. This action was taken forward on the orders of the then PM Indira Gandhi.
