Indo China Standoff: How it is adopting a double attitude regarding the border dispute, it is known from its antics. After the Galvan dispute in 2020, there have been several rounds of talks with India at the commander level, in which it talks about maintaining peace on the border. Meanwhile, he is increasing his strength near the Line of Actual Control (LAC). Latest satellite pictures expose the nefarious intentions of China.
Since 2020, the People’s Liberation Army, that is, the Chinese army, has been engaged in expanding the airfield near the LAC for itself. After the military standoff that began in May 2020, China has rapidly built airstrips, helipads, railway facilities, missile bases and bridges, along with large-scale deployment of troops.
Open pole of Chinese construction on LAC
According to the report of Hindustan Times, China has built new runways in Hotan, Ngari Gunsa and Lhasa, new design shelters to keep fighter jets and military operation buildings on a large scale. This tells how much difference there is between the words and actions of the dragon. These three Chinese airfields are of special importance as they were used in India’s current operations amid the standoff with India. At present, Indian officials have refused to comment on this report.
Relations between the two countries at an all-time low
Relations between India and China are at the lowest level in the last decade. In June 2020, soldiers of both countries clashed with each other in the Galvan Valley, in which 20 Indian soldiers were killed. More than 40 Chinese soldiers were killed in this clash, although China never told its exact number. This was the first time in 45 years between the two countries, when soldiers died due to conflict.
This year, during bilateral talks and meetings on the sidelines of international forums, India has made it clear to China that if bilateral relations are to be normalised, the situation on the LAC will have to be normalized first.
What is the importance of these airfields
The Hotan airfield in southwestern Xinjiang is located in a straight line at a distance of about 400 km from Leh, the capital of the Union Territory of Ladakh. Hotan airfield was last expanded in 2002. At the same time, a satellite image of June 2020 shows that then there was no construction or development in the area near the airfield.
The latest satellite image obtained in May 2023 shows that a new runway has now been built at the Hotan airfield, along with it a new building and a new apron are also visible to conduct military operations. The pictures also show the operation of drones from the Hotan airfield and the deployment of a Chinese stealth fighter. Along with these three airfields, China’s activities in other areas give a clear message of China’s strategic intention against India.
