The Fact India: Before the assembly elections in Rajasthan, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot is leaving no stone unturned in providing convenience to the people of the state. CM Gehlot has announced to give 100 units of electricity free of cost to all the electricity consumers of the state. Consumers who spend up to 100 units of electricity will not get any bill. Apart from this, if a consumer spends 200 units of electricity, then his surcharge fee will also be waived.
Till now only domestic consumers were getting 100 units of free electricity facility. But now this facility will be given to all categories of consumers. This means that 100 units of free electricity will also be given to commercial establishments. Apart from this, those consumers who spend more than 100 units of electricity per month, then the first 100 units of electricity will be given free to such people, after that the bill will be payable for the amount of electricity consumed. Consumers consuming electricity up to 200 units per month will get first 100 units of electricity free, along with fixed charges up to 200 units, fuel surcharge and all other charges will be waived. The state government will pay for them.
The electricity bill collected so far is Rs 4.75 per unit up to 50 units. 6.50 per unit from 51 to 100 units. 7.35 per unit from 151 to 300 units. 7.65 per unit from 301 to 500 units. 7.95 per unit for 501 or more units. The fixed charge for consumption of up to 300 units is Rs 275. A fixed charge of Rs 345 is levied on consumption of 301 to 500 units. Urban cess is levied at the rate of 15 paise per unit from urban consumers. Electricity duty is levied on all consumers at the rate of 40 paise per unit.
Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has now made a strategy to make government schemes a tool to settle political equations. After the end of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Ajmer rally and Sachin Pilot’s ultimatum on three demands, Gehlot has tried to divert attention from both by making a big announcement. CM Gehlot made many populist announcements in the budget this time. From the announcement of new districts to free electricity to farmers and smart phones to women, dozens of free schemes have been started. PM Narendra Modi criticized the Gehlot government’s free schemes on Wednesday.
