AAP Vs LG: The dispute between the Kejriwal government and Lieutenant Governor Vinay Kumar Saxena in Delhi is increasing. The new case pertains to Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, which comes under Delhi government. The East Delhi campus of Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University is to be inaugurated on Thursday (June 8).
Regarding this, Education Minister Atishi in the Delhi Government had told on Monday (June 5) that Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal would inaugurate it, but the Lieutenant Governor’s residence has expressed objection to it. A note issued by the residence said that it was already decided that the inauguration would be done by LG Vinay Kumar Saxena.
What did the Lieutenant Governor say?
Lieutenant Governor Niwas claimed that CM Arvind Kejriwal also knew that the inauguration would be done by LG Vinay Kumar Saxena. In this program, the Chief Minister was to be invited as the Guest of Honor and the Education Minister as a special guest. Further said that LG Saxena was to inaugurate it on 23rd May, but at the behest of Kejriwal, its date was further extended to 8th June.
Controversy is also going on regarding the ordinance
In fact, ever since Saxena took over as the Lieutenant Governor, there has been a deadlock between the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Delhi and him over several issues related to governance decisions.
AAP’s national convenor Arvind Kejriwal is also saying about the central government’s ordinance that it is against democracy. Regarding this, he has met many leaders including West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, Tamil Nadu CM MK Stalin and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. The Supreme Court had said that Kejriwal government has the authority to transfer and posting officers of Delhi, but after that the central government brought an ordinance.
