A bigger train accident than Balasore in Orissa was averted. In fact, the tunnel through which the train was passing suddenly caught fire. Seeing this, the train had come in the grip of fire in the tunnel, from where it was not possible to escape or get out. The lives of hundreds of passengers aboard the train were in trouble. All the passengers were about to be burnt alive, but the vigilance of the fire department and relief and rescue teams saved their lives by taking them out. Just a few days ago, more than 275 passengers were killed and more than 1000 were injured when three trains collided in Balasore.
Let us tell you that this incident of fire in the railway tunnel is not of India, but of Austria. After the fire broke out in the tunnel, the train stuck in it has been taken out. In this incident, the rescue personnel also took out 151 passengers on the train safely. The regional government in the province of Tyrol said 33 people were lightly injured in the incident on Wednesday evening and had been taken to hospital for treatment. It seems that the main reason for the trouble of these people was the smoke, due to which they had respiratory problems.
20 fire engines extinguished the fire together
According to officials, there were more than 370 passengers in the train. Local authorities said the night train with some 370 passengers was in a tunnel near Fritzzen, east of Innsbruck in the Tyrol region, when the fire broke out, the Austrian Press Agency (APA) reported. Railway operator OEBB said at 8.40 pm a fault in an overhead wire was reported and an automobile caught fire suddenly on a freight wagon belonging to the “Nightjet” train going from Innsbruck to Amsterdam.
OEBB said that with the help of 20 fire tenders, the fire was doused at 10.20 pm. Officials said that the passengers were taken out of the train at around 11 pm. Around 700 rescue workers, fire brigade personnel and police officers were involved in the rescue operation. The train was taken out of the tunnel on Thursday morning. Passengers who did not require medical care were taken by bus to Innsbruck and provided with transport to their destination.
