Simple Energy, a Bengaluru-based electric vehicle manufacturing startup, has started deliveries of the electric scooter Simple One. The company has claimed that the scooter will cover a distance of 212 kilometers on a single full charge.
Simple Energy unveiled this scooter a year and a half ago on 15 August 2021. After a long wait, the company launched this e-scooter on May 23 at an initial price of Rs 1.45 lakh (ex-showroom, Bengaluru). The scooter has received over 1 lakh bookings since its launch.
Safest battery powered scooter in the segment
Electric scooter Simple One is available in 6 colors – Brazen Black, Namma Red, Azure Blue, Grace White, Brazen X, Lite X. The company claims that the One electric scooter includes a battery pack that complies with all safety norms and is the only scooter with the safest battery in the segment.
300km range will be available with swappable battery pack option
The e-scooter has a 4.8 kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The company claims that this e-scooter will give a range of 236 km on a full charge. It will also get a swappable battery pack option, which increases the range to 300km. The e-scooter can be charged from 0 to 80 percent in 5:54 hours with a 750-watt home charger. This charger will be available from September. Fast charging option will also be available in this.
A thermal management system in the e-scooter for cooling
The battery pack is mated to an 8.5 kW electric motor that produces 11bhp power and 72Nm torque. The electric scooter can accelerate from 0 to 40 kmph in 2.77 seconds and has a top speed of 105KMPH.
The scooter gets four riding modes – Eco, Ride, Dash and Sonic. Apart from this, a thermal management system is available in the e-scooter, which has been developed with the help of IIT-Indore, which helps in cooling the motor and battery of a scooter. The company is offering 3 years warranty on vehicle, battery and motor.
LED headlamp and 7-inch touch screen instrument cluster
The e-scooter gets LED headlamps with tail maps, 4G connectivity and a 7-inch touch screen instrument cluster with open-source Android OS. It comes with features like telematics, ride statistics, park assist, Bluetooth connectivity for music and calling, and an onboard navigation system. It also has the facility of over-the-air (OTA) software updates.
Braking & Suspension
This e-scooter has been built on a tubular steel frame. It has 12 inch alloy wheels. The e-scooter comes with 200mm disc at the front and 190mm single disc at the rear with combi-braking. The model uses telescopic front forks and a monoshock unit at the rear. The curb weight of the scooter is 134 kg and it also offers 30 liters of boot space.
