According to news agency PTI, Ujjain District Magistrate Kumar Purushottam said, “There are more than 150 idols in the Shri Mahakal Lok Corridor, out of which six idols fell and broke due to the strong storm that came this afternoon. The contractors will install the new idols, as they are also responsible for the repairs for five years. We are going to make the rules more stringent for the future as well and fix their responsibilities.”

Purushottam clarified, “These fallen and broken idols were not inside the Mahakal temple. They were in the Sri Mahakal Lok Corridor.”
He said that two people have also died in Ujjain district due to today’s strong storm. Apart from this, some houses have also been reported to have collapsed due to the storm in the district, he added.
Talking over the phone about the local weather conditions, JP Vishwakarma, duty officer of the India Meteorological Department’s Bhopal centre, told PTI that the forecast for Sunday said 40 to 40 thunderstorms would occur at isolated places in Ujjain during the day. Strong winds will blow at a speed of 50 kilometers per hour.
He also said, “We do not have an automatic weather station in Ujjain to measure the wind speed in Ujjain. We will demand it.”
