San Francisco. Ride-hailing platform Uber has launched ‘Teen Accounts’ with some safety features in select cities in the US and Canada to help young people travel more safely on their own. Teen Accounts for Ride will be available from May 22. We’re introducing Teen Accounts on Uber, Uber said in a blogpost on Wednesday. It is designed for parents and carers of 13-17 year olds to save valuable time with peace of mind.
New ‘Teen Accounts’ on the app will help parents and carers safely transport their teens under their care with access to features such as screened and experienced drivers, safety features only on Uber, and always-on support.
With ‘Screened and Experienced Drivers’, only experienced and highly rated drivers will be eligible to complete trips with teens.
In ‘Safety Features Only on Uber’, the company designed Teen Accounts with built-in, privacy-preserving safety features, including Verify My Ride, RideCheck and audio recording, as well as live trip tracking, which lets parents to follow the progress of the journey. So they know where their teen is going and who is driving.
With Always-On Support, parents will be able to contact the driver directly during the trip, reach out to Uber’s support team, or report an issue on behalf of their teen.
In addition, the company said that teen accounts will soon be available on Uber Eats, so teens can order food as well.
Uber also announced a ‘Family Profile’ feature that will allow users to link multiple accounts together, so they can pay for rides and deliveries from one centralized account, as well as real-time location and order updates. Can get.(IANS)
