40 bighas of land will be allotted to Pakistani Hindus in Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer. This land has been identified. The work of leveling it has started. Collector IAS Tina Dabi had assured the rehabilitation of Pakistani Hindus after the bulldozer action on the colony.
According to the report, this land has been selected near Mulsagar, about 5 km from the district headquarters. Before starting the work of leveling the land, worship was also done. The Urban Improvement Trust (UIT) has been instructed to make arrangements for electricity and water. There is a plan to settle about 200 families on this land.
The refugees are also happy after the land was settled. He has thanked Tina Dabi. It is being told that this is perhaps the first case in Rajasthan of UIT earmarking separate land for the rehabilitation of Pakistani Hindu refugees. Presently 50 refugee families are living in the night shelter. On the instructions of Tina Dabi, arrangements for food and water have also been made for them. The district administration has also formed a committee to help these refugees. Efforts will also be made to get them citizenship.
Significantly, on May 16, 2023, the settlement of Pakistani Hindu refugees was destroyed in the Amar Sagar area of Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. Following the orders of the Collector, the team of UIT had run a bulldozer here in the presence of heavy police force. After this Tina Dabi was embroiled in controversies. After this, the district administration had made alternative arrangements for the affected people to stay. A survey team was formed to select the land.
Earlier, similar action was also taken in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. On 24 April 2023, the Jodhpur Development Authority had run bulldozers on the houses of refugee Hindus in Chokha village in the name of anti-encroachment campaign. Most of the victims of this action have long-term visas to stay in India, but till now they have not got Indian citizenship.
