Jaipur . Women play a leading role in agriculture from sowing to planting, irrigation, harvesting and storage. In order to ensure their empowerment and effective participation in this field, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has started the ‘Rajasthan Young Farmer Skill and Capacity Enhancement Mission’ in the budget announcement 2023-24, innovating in the ‘Incentive Scheme for Girls Studying Agriculture’. Under this, the incentive amount given to girl students has been increased by three times.
Through this mission, the state government has increased the incentive amount to increase the trend of girl students towards agriculture education and to encourage girl education. Under the mission, girl students studying in agriculture from class 11 to PhD are getting 5 thousand rupees. The amount of 15 thousand has now been increased from 15 thousand to 40 thousand rupees per year. The aim of the state government is that the girls should study the latest trends in the field of agriculture and get formal education-training, which will not only increase the income of the family but also contribute to the prosperity of the state and the country.
Incentive on choosing agriculture faculty-
Agriculture Commissioner Kanaram said that under the mission, the amount of 11th and 12th class students studying agriculture subject in the state will be increased from Rs 5 thousand to Rs 15 thousand every year. The girl students pursuing graduation in agriculture science subjects like horticulture, dairy, agriculture engineering, food processing as well as post graduation (M.Sc. Agriculture) will be given Rs. 25,000 per annum from Rs. 12,000. Similarly, a provision has been made to increase the incentive amount from Rs 15 thousand to Rs 40 thousand per year (maximum of 3 years) to the girl students pursuing PhD in agriculture.
84 thousand 583 girl students benefited from the mission.
Kanaram said that in the last 4 years (from December 17, 2018 to March 2023), 84 thousand 583 girl students studying under this mission have been given a total incentive of Rs 55 crore 17 lakh 87 thousand. In which in the year 2018-19, 11 thousand 605 girl students have been given financial support of Rs 7 crore 87 lakh 69 thousand. Similarly, in the year 2019-20, Rs 9 crore 30 lakh 6 thousand to 15 thousand 780 girl students, Rs 10 crore 75 lakh 23 thousand to 14647 girl students in the year 2020-21, Rs 12 crore to 20 thousand 867 girl students in the year 2021-22. 84 lakh 56 thousand have been benefited by giving incentive of Rs. Similarly, in the year 2022-23, 21 thousand 684 girl students have been encouraged to take agriculture faculty by giving financial support of Rs 14 crore 40 lakh 33 thousand.
Increasing statistics show that this campaign of the state government is proving beneficial for girl students to choose agriculture faculty. With this, not only are the girl students innovating in the field of agriculture, but they are also ensuring their participation in the country.
Who can apply in the mission-
To apply in the mission, it is necessary for the girl student to be a native of Rajasthan and to be studying in the Faculty of Agriculture in any state and state government recognized school, college or university.
Required Documents-
Girl students studying in agriculture have to upload necessary documents such as Jan Aadhaar card, last year’s mark sheet and original residence certificate online while applying for Rajasthan Youth Farmers Skill and Capacity Enhancement Mission.
How to apply-
The girl students desirous of applying in the Mission through e-Mitra or through their own S.S.O. Id. From Raj Kisan Sathi portal can apply for incentive amount. To get any information regarding the scheme or application, girl students can also contact Agriculture Supervisor or Assistant Agriculture Officer at the nearest Kisan Seva Kendra or Deputy Director Agriculture (Extension) at the district level.
Divya and Kanchan got strength on choosing agriculture faculty-
Divya Gurjar, pursuing post graduate education in Agriculture Faculty, is a second year MSc student at Shri Karna Narendra Agricultural University, Jobner, Jaipur. She says that under the scheme, an incentive amount of Rs 12,000 was given by the state government in the four years of BSC. After this, even after taking admission in the Faculty of Agriculture in M.Sc., he has been given an incentive amount of Rs. 12,000 for both the years. She tells that from the beginning she had a desire to make her future in the field of agriculture. She wanted them to learn about advanced techniques in the field of agriculture and use them to help increase their family’s income. Divya says that along with studies, she also gives proper information to farmers about advanced techniques of farming, auxiliary materials like seeds, fertilizers.
Kanchan Gangani, a fourth year BSC student studying in the same university, also does not get tired of expressing gratitude to Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot for this scheme. She says that due to this scheme, she has been encouraged to study agriculture. She wants to learn more and more about the latest techniques of agriculture and do any innovation in this field. Kanchan says that earlier she used to buy vegetables from the market in her house, but now she grows vegetables at home, due to which she gets fresh vegetables at home.
