The Fact India: The Supreme Court did not hear the petition filed on the inauguration of the new Parliament House. The petition demanded that the President should inaugurate the new Parliament House. On Friday, petitioner advocate Jaya Sukin started giving arguments in the Supreme Court. The court said that why you people bring such a petition, it is not understood. What is your interest in this? After this comment of the Supreme Court, the petitioner Advocate Jaya Sukin withdrew the petition. The petitioner told the Supreme Court that he would not take the matter to the High Court.
Sukin had filed a petition in the Supreme Court on Thursday. In the petition, he had said that the Lok Sabha Secretariat had violated the Constitution by not inviting the President to the inauguration ceremony of the new Parliament House. Only the President should inaugurate. The petition said that on May 18, the Lok Sabha Secretariat informed that the new Parliament would be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The Parliament is made up of the President and the two Houses. The first citizen of the country is the President. The President has the power to summon and dissolve the Parliament.
The petition said that appoints the Prime Minister and other ministers. All the work is done in the name of the President only. The Lok Sabha Secretariat has issued orders arbitrarily without thinking. Not inviting the President of India Draupadi Murmu to the inauguration of the new Parliament House is a violation of the Constitution. The President also has executive, legislative, judicial and military powers.
The Supreme Court did not hear the petition on Friday. On this, the petitioner demanded someone to withdraw the petition. During the hearing, Solicitor General SG Mehta, appearing for the Central Government, said that after withdrawing the petition, they can also go to the High Court. On this objection, the court asked Jaya Sukin that if you want to go to the High Court, we will cancel the petition. On this Sukin said – I will not even go to the High Court. I do not want the petition to be quashed, otherwise the government will get the certificate of such inauguration.
