San Francisco. Elon Musk-run Tesla has recalled over 1.1 lakh electric vehicles (EVs) or almost all vehicles sold in China due to braking problems. According to Engadget, the lack of an option to set the regenerative braking intensity and receiving notifications with a continuous accelerator pedal press can cause the car to crash.
Tesla said it would fix the problem with a software update that would both change the default regenerative braking level and let users customize the power of the system.
Tesla will also notify drivers who hold the accelerator down for too long.
The recall applies to Model 3 and Model Y vehicles manufactured in China between January 2019 and April this year, as well as certain imported Model 3, Model S and Model X vehicles.
In April, Tesla issued a voluntary recall for its electric semi truck related to a possible emergency brake failure just months after its release.
The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) posted a recall filing on its website, indicating 35 semi trucks were affected, reports CNBC.
Last year, Tesla recalled more than 3,21,000 vehicles due to software glitches.
The recall included some 2023 Model 3 vehicles and 2020 to 2023 Model Y vehicles.(IANS)
