The government has blocked 14 mobile applications. According to information, these apps were being used by terrorists to send coded text from Jammu and Kashmir to Pakistan. It has been learned that these were mostly being used by over ground terrorists of Jammu and Kashmir based terror organizations to spread messages and receive information from Pakistan.
The apps banned by the Center include Creepvisor, Enigma, SafeSwiss, Vikrame, Mediafire, Briar, Beechat, Nandbox, Conion, IMO, Element, Second Line, Jangi and Threema. According to sources, most of these mobile applications are specially designed to hide the identity of the user.
According to an official, the agencies keep a tab on the channels used by overground terrorists to communicate with each other. While tracking a conversation, the agencies found that the mobile application does not have users in India and it is difficult to track the activities on it. Due to this action was taken on them.
232 Chinese apps were banned in February
Earlier in February, the central government had banned and blocked 232 mobile apps after Chinese connections surfaced. This included 138 online betting apps and 94 loan giving apps. Investigation has revealed that these apps lure people to take loans and win lakhs by playing betting. Later, on not being able to repay the loan, they would send lewd messages to them, even threatening to make their photos viral by tampering with them.
