Prime Minister Narendra Modi will flag off the first Vande Bharat Express train of Assam through video conferencing tomorrow. It was told in a government press release that PM Modi will flag off the Vande Bharat train through video conferencing at 12 noon. According to news agency ANI, the statement said, “The state-of-the-art train will give the people of the region another new means of traveling with speed and comfort. It will also give a boost to tourism in the area.”
As compared to the fastest train currently running between Guwahati and New Jalpaiguri, this train will help in reducing the travel time by almost one hour. The current fastest train completes the journey in about six and a half hours, while Vande Bharat will complete the journey in five and a half hours.
Prime Minister Modi will also dedicate 182 route kilometers of the new electrified section. Trains will operate faster and for shorter durations, contributing to the provision of pollution-free transportation.
