PM On Foundation Day of Maharashtra-Gujarat: Today, on May 1, the foundation day of Maharashtra and Gujarat is being celebrated across the country. On this special occasion, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the citizens of both the states and wished them prosperity and progress.
The Prime Minister wrote in a tweet, Happy Maharashtra Day. The state has a great culture and the people here are hardworking. He has enriched the national progress in various fields. I pray for the continued progress of Maharashtra in the years to come.

Gujarat has made an identity due to its all-round progress as well as its unique culture. I pray that the state continues to touch new heights of development in the times to come. The Prime Minister also congratulated the citizens of his home state in Gujarati language.

Both states were part of the Bombay province.
Maharashtra and Gujarat came into existence as separate states on May 1 in different years. Earlier, both the states were part of Bombay province. Raj Bhavan programs of about 30 states will be organized today on the foundation day of both the states. According to the information, people of Maharashtra and Gujarat origin living in the state will be hosted at the Raj Bhavan. Along with this, a glimpse of the culture and dishes of both the states will be presented. Programs will be organized on May 1 in Raj Bhavans of various states including Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Punjab, Assam and Uttarakhand.
