The National Stock Exchange (NSE) has launched WTI crude oil and natural gas futures contracts on Monday (May 15). After this, now under the Future and Option (F&O) segment, WTI crude oil and natural gas can also be traded.
For this, the market regulator Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) had approved NSE last month. Following this approval, NSE entered into a data licensing agreement with CME Group to enable it to trade and settle derivative contracts for WTI Crude Oil and Natural Gas denominated in Indian Rupees on the NYMEX platform.

Sriram Krishnan, Chief Business Development Officer, NSE said, “It is a pleasure to inform the market participants that NSE has today launched NYMEX WTI Crude Oil and Natural Gas futures contracts. NSE has been a trusted exchange for market participants for almost 30 years due to its robust technology platform with high level of security and flexibility.’
NSE is the world’s largest derivatives exchange
According to the Futures Industry Association (FIA) data for the year 2022, NSE is the world’s largest derivatives exchange in terms of trading volume. This is the fourth year in a row that NSE has achieved this position. Along with this, NSE has the third position in terms of electronic order book.
NSE is the first exchange in India to introduce electronic based trading. It started operations in 1994 and has been ranked by SEBI as the largest stock exchange in India in terms of average turnover of equity shares every year since 1995. NSE has a fully integrated business model, offering finance education along with exchange listing, trading services, market data feeds.
Share trading in F&O segment till 11:55 pm
Trading in the Futures & Options (F&O) segment takes place from 9 AM to 11:30 PM or 9 AM to 11:55 PM IST from Monday to Friday. This trading time is based on the US daylight saving time period.
