New Parliament Building Inauguration: Political parties are divided into two camps regarding the inauguration ceremony of the new Parliament House to be held on Sunday (May 28). One camp is the one which is boycotting the inauguration ceremony while on the other side are the parties which have decided to be present in the inauguration ceremony. 19 parties including Congress, TMC and Aam Aadmi Party issued a statement on Wednesday (May 24) saying that they will not attend the inauguration ceremony. However, many parties have given their approval for the ceremony. Let us see which parties are going to be a part of this historic event.
Biju Janata Dal (BJD)
The Biju Janata Dal led by Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik will participate in the event. The party has issued a statement saying that “these issues can be debated in the House meeting in August. BJP will be a part of this momentous occasion. The statement further added that the President of India is the head of the Indian state. Parliament India Represents 1.4 billion people of India. Both the institutions are symbols of Indian democracy and have been given the authority by the Constitution of India. Their authority and stature must always be protected.”
YSRCP
Yuvajana Shramik Rythu Congress Party (YSRCP) leader and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy wrote, “I congratulate Prime Minister Narendra Modi for dedicating the grand, stately and spacious Parliament House to the nation. Being the temple of democracy , Parliament reflects the soul of our country and belongs to the people of our country and all political parties. Boycotting such an auspicious event is not in accordance with the true spirit of democracy. Setting aside all political differences, I request that all Political parties should participate in this grand event. In the true spirit of democracy, my party will participate in this historic event.”
Shiromani Akali Dal
Shiromani Akali Dal leader Sukhbir Singh Badal will attend the inauguration ceremony. Party leader Daljit Singh Cheema gave information about this. He said that India getting a new parliament is a proud moment for the country and “we do not want any politics to happen at this point of time”.
