Mumbai Airport: The Mumbai Customs Department has achieved great success. Customs officials here seized over 4.2 kg gold worth Rs 2.28 crore from an Indian national arriving from Muscat on May 18 at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport. According to the information received from the Mumbai Custom officials, the passenger had hidden the gold inside the jeans, undergarment pocket and cap.
According to the information received from the officials, the passenger had hidden the gold dust. He told that during the checking he had suspected the passenger. After which they searched it, they found more than 4.2 kg gold dust from inside the jeans, undergarment and cap. He told that the cost of the dust found is around Rs 2.28 crore. Apart from this, he told that further investigation is going on.

Officers foiled illegal smuggling of Rs 30 lakh
Earlier, Customs officials in Mumbai seized Rs 30 lakh worth of cigarettes being supplied illegally at the airport. The customs officer had said that he had seized 4 lakh cigarettes packed in 2,000 cartons under section 110. Also told that a total of 2,000 cartons of illegal cigarettes were found in the export shipment going to London.
Acting on intelligence that an attempt was being made to smuggle cigarettes through mis-declaration and concealment in export shipments, the official said. Prior to this case, the officials had foiled illegal smuggling of Rs 46 lakh. Smugglers smuggled cigarettes, iPhones and gold.
