The Fact India: The country will have a normal monsoon this year. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) gave this good news on Friday. Dr. PS Pai of the Meteorological Department said that despite the El Nino condition, the country is expected to have a normal monsoon this year. Monsoon is likely to hit Kerala coast on June 4. Dr. DS Pai held a press conference on Friday. In the conference, Pai told that there is no possibility of any storm in the Arabian Sea next week.
Pai said rainfall is expected to be 96 to 104 per cent of the Long Period Average (LPA). However, less than normal rainfall is expected over Northwest India. LPA is expected to remain 92 percent during this period. It would be great if it rains well all over the country. Agriculture will not be affected much. According to the Meteorological Department, Rajasthan, Western Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi are expected to receive 92 percent rainfall during the entire monsoon. This means less rain than normal. Rest of the parts are expected to receive normal to above normal rainfall.
The Meteorological Department said that June is expected to receive below normal rainfall during the southwest monsoon that lasts from June to September. More than normal rainfall may occur over some areas of Northwest, North and Northeast India. The Meteorological Department says that due to the Western Disturbance, we have already seen pre-monsoon conditions like rain and thunderstorms. Due to this, we are seeing relief in the weather of Delhi and its surrounding cities.
The Meteorological Department had predicted the arrival of monsoon on May 27 last year, but it hit the coasts two days late on May 29. The monsoon predictions made by IMD from last 2005 to 2022 proved to be correct. Only in 2015 the conjecture was proved wrong.
