It has been said on behalf of BMC that the projects undertaken by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation are executed without any malpractices or irregularities in the bidding process as per the relevant rules and regulations. The BMC administration has consistently and always responded to questions and concerns raised in connection with the projects as well as the bidding process through various platforms and mediums.
The BMC administration said that it reiterates this commitment once again. Some questions are being deliberately raised on the system of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation. On March 7, 2022, after the completion of the terms of the municipal servants, the Government of Maharashtra appointed the Municipal Commissioner as the Administrator of the Municipal Corporation. As per Section 69 (c) of the Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act, the Government of Maharashtra has empowered the Municipal Commissioner as Administrator (Municipal Corporation) / Administrator (Standing Committee) with effect from March 8, 2022.
According to the Mumbai Municipal Corporation Act section, the Mumbai Municipal Corporation said, ‘The jurisdiction and responsibilities of the Municipal Corporation and its committees under the Municipal Corporation Act Section 6 (c) (1) are now with the Administrator. The jurisdiction and responsibilities thus conferred are being effectively executed and implemented diligently by the Administrator.’
Demand for inquiry from Lokayukta
Aditya Thackeray had accused BMC that there was a big scam in the construction of the road. Even after complaining about this, the municipal administration did not take any action. That’s why Aditya Thackeray demanded Governor Ramesh Bais to investigate the road scam and other corruption in this matter by the Lokayukta.
After meeting the Governor, Aditya Thackeray said that all the information about the scams in Mumbai has been given to the Governor. He said that a total of 100 roads of 400 kilometers were to be concreted. A tender was also floated for this in January. Further, the youth leader told that till now the work of even 10 roads has not been started. He has accused the Chief Minister’s close associate of being involved in this racket.
