24 MLAs have been sworn in as ministers in the Karnataka cabinet. The swearing-in ceremony of these 24 MLAs as ministers took place at the Raj Bhavan in the presence of state Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar. The Karnataka Legislative Assembly now has 34 ministers. Siddaramaiah was sworn in as Karnataka CM and Shivakumar as Deputy CM on 20 May.

Congress leaders Santosh Lad, NS Boseraju, Suresh BS, Madhu Bangarappa, Dr MC Sudhakar, B Nagendra, Mankal Vaidya, Lakshmi Hebbalkar, Rahim Khan, D Sudhakar, Timmapur Ramappa Balappa, SS Mallikarjuna, Shivraj Sangappa Tangdagi, Dr Sharanprakash Rudrappa Patil, Timmapur Ramappa Balappa, SS Mallikarjuna, Shivraj Sangappa Tangdagi, and Dr. Sharanprakash Rudrappa Patil took oath as ministers in the Karnataka cabinet. Also Congress leaders N Chaluvarayaswamy, K Venkateshke, and Dr HC Mahadevappa Eshwar Khandre took oath as ministers in the Karnataka cabinet. Also Congress leaders HK Patil and Krishna Byregowda took oath as ministers in the Karnataka cabinet.

Governor administered the oath
Karnataka Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot administered the oath to the new ministers. Supporters of Congress leader Rudrappa Lamani on Friday staged a protest outside the Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) office, demanding a ministerial berth for the leader. Lamani has won from the Haveri constituency in the 2023 Karnataka Assembly elections. The MLAs are Kyathsandra N Rajanna, Sharanbasappa Darsanapur, Sivananda Patil, Ramappa Balappa Timmapur, SS Mallikarjuna, Shivraj Sangappa Tangadgi, Sharanprakash Rudrappa Patil, Mankal Vaidya, Lakshmi Hebbalkar, Rahim Khan, D Sudhakar, Santosh Lad, NS Boseraju, Suresh BS, Madhu Bangarappa, MC Sudhakar and B Nagendra will be inducted into the state cabinet today.

Space has been given to different classes
The list includes three MLAs from Scheduled Castes, two from Scheduled Tribes, five from Other Backward Communities Kuruba, Raju, Maratha, Ediga and Mogaveera and one Brahmin MLA. Seven ministers each are from old Mysore and Kalyana Karnataka regions, six from Kittur Karnataka region and two from central Karnataka, said a PTI report citing an official statement. CM Siddaramaiah said the cabinet will have eight Lingayats representing different sub-sects of the community. There will be five Vokkaligas, including DK Shivakumar, the statement said. Minister of State KH Muniyappa said the portfolios of the inducted ministers would be announced by Saturday evening.
Congress President and Sonia Gandhi approved the list of ministers
The list of 24 MLAs was finalized after several rounds of discussions between top party leaders including Siddaramaiah, Shivakumar and AICC general secretaries KC Venugopal and Randeep Surjewala. The list was then approved by Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge and senior party leader Sonia Gandhi. The list of portfolios of the Karnataka cabinet has been removed after discrepancies were found in the list currently with the Raj Bhavan. Nine of the 24 new entrants were sworn in on Saturday. These include K Venkatesh from Periyapatna in Mysore, KN Rajanna from Madhugiri in Tumkur, Mankal Vaidya from Bhatkal in Uttara Kannada, Lakshmi Hebbalkar from Belagavi Rural, non-elected NS Boseraju from Raichur, Bairathi Suresh. Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah on Saturday said that all 34 cabinet berths have been filled with the intention of providing a fresh touch to governance in the state.
