The Fact India: An officer of Chhattisgarh spilled 21 lakh liters of dam water for his mobile. As many liters of water has been shed, 1500 acres of land would have been irrigated. The case is of Kanker. The price of the officer’s mobile is said to be Rs 1.5 lakh. After the matter came to light, Kanker Collector Priyanka Shukla suspended him on Friday. On the other hand, a show cause notice was issued to the SDO of the Water Resources Department. They have been asked to reply in 24 hours.
The matter is of 21 May. Food Inspector Rajesh Vishwas had gone to Paralkot Dam with friends to party. During this, his mobile worth Rs 1.5 lakh fell into the water. The next morning the mobile was searched by the nearby villagers and divers. When the whereabouts of the mobile could not be found in the dam, Rajesh Vishwas pumped water from the dam for four days. With this one and a half thousand acres of land could be irrigated. After all this effort, Rajesh got the mobile.
After the complaint, the irrigation officer reached the spot and got the water extraction stopped. But by then 6 feet of water had receded. It is approximately 21 lakh litres. Irrigation Department’s SDO RC Dhivar says that so much water was shed by keeping him in deception. On the other hand, Food Inspector Rajesh Biswas argued that the phone had departmental information, hence this step had to be taken. Now the phone is switched off.
