New Delhi. 76% attendance was recorded on the first day of Common University Entrance Test (CUET)-UG 2023. 2,65,248 candidates appeared in the examination. University Grants Commission (UGC) chief M. Jagadish Kumar gave this information. The exam started on Sunday. CUET-UG Phase I is being conducted from May 21 to 25 in 271 cities and over 447 centres. The exam is being conducted in three shifts. The total number of candidates scheduled in Shift 1 was 87,879; In the second shift, 87,903 students appeared and in the third shift, 89,466 students appeared in 458 centres.
According to Professor M. Jagadesh Kumar, Chairman, UGC, the attendance on the first day of CUET-UG was 76 per cent, which is a significant jump from last year, which was around 62 per cent.
In two per cent centers (about 12 out of 450), the examination started late than the scheduled time but was completed successfully.
According to the UGC, the students were informed in the admit card to enter the center in a sequential manner. According to Kumar, but in some centres, since they came late, there was crowd and the commencement of the examination was delayed. We have now taken administrative measures to prevent such situations.
“We have also provided basic amenities like water, refreshments, and covered shelter, waiting area for the candidates and their parents, guardians,” he said.
For the second phase (May 25-28), the National Testing Agency and the UGC are working to provide admit cards late night of May 22 or by May 23. He will announce the city information slips for the third phase (May 29 – June 2) on May 23.
