Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind has asked Congress to fulfill its promise of banning Bajrang Dal. If this does not happen, he has also warned of not getting the support of Muslims in the upcoming elections. During the Karnataka assembly elections, the Congress compared Bajrang Dal with the banned fundamentalist organization Popular Front of India (PFI) and called for a ban on it. However, later the party backtracked and promised to build a Bajrang Bali temple in every district.
Now, after the formation of the Congress government in Karnataka, Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind President Syed Arshad Madani has given him his promise. In an interview to ABP News, Madani said that 90-100 percent of Muslims voted for the Congress in Karnataka. Now the Congress government of Karnataka should fulfill its promise and ban Bajrang Dal. He said, “The Congress should now keep its promise. Congress should ban Bajrang Dal and other sectarian (communal) forces. If Congress does not do this, Muslims will not trust Congress in the coming elections.”
During the interview, Madani also blamed the Congress for the riots in independent India. In response to a question, he said that there were riots in Jabalpur during 1956-57. After this, more than 20 thousand riots took place across the country. At that time Congress was ruling. None of the rioters was punished. This happened because of the poor policy of the Congress.
Madani has described the Common Civil Code (UCC) as the law of the majority. Said that Muslims are not ready to leave the law of their religion and accept the law of the majority made by the government. He also accused the Modi government of spreading hatred. When asked why he does not approach Modi with his issues, Madani said, “I know he will not listen to us in front of his hatred. If he calls, I will go. Along with this, he also said that if BJP gives up the policy of hatred, then Muslims will also go towards it.
